The last week I've been busy changing the look and feel of the IOS Reservations template.
And I am really a person to respect a license! I know I cannot / may not (yes and cannot - LIMITED PHP) edit any other part then the css and basic HTML.
Yesterday I changed the language file, because where I am, we work more with lodges and gueshouses, than hotels... ???
So at some places I put a new entry (test and trail because I dont know php to the extended level that IOS was written) - the entry TYPEHOTEL
Because then I can have a option to select / set the establish a hotel from the language file.
Anyways, I think the update error happened after I updated / updgrade I tink, the advanced availability check for ver. 3.3 / 3.5 - not sure.
Also I did not do the update via the admin control panel, but rather via FTP, because the admin does not want to do the update, it says that the module is installed already.
Maybe its just a standard thing, but I want to be on the right side and just make sure.
This is the error I get if I visit the updates page of IOS : AUTHENTICATION CHECK FAILED, UPDATE IOS RESERVATIONS CORE FILES, ERROR642H2

Please restore the original version of this file:
administrator/components/com_reservations/admin.reservations.php
That file has nothing to do with the site's layout and html. It is an internal file. If you modify the core files you lose updates and support.
13 modules (12 updated and 1 new) have been released in the last 2 days for the upcoming IOS Reservations v3.5.
These extensions are available from within IOSR control panel (section Update).
The new extension (IOSR Destinations) is compatible only with IOSR 3.5+
The updated extensions are compatibility fixes of the older extensions in order to work with IOSR v3.5.

Okay I found what I've changed, and resored the original!
Accommodation type - I think I read somewhere that one will be allowed to add more accommodation types with version 3.5 - not 100% sure - but then its no problem! I have patience!
So - just to say what I did;
I changed the word in the language file, Hotel, to Accommodations providers - because, as said, be have more guesthouses and lodges here.
I then added an options TYPEHOTEL which relates to the word, "hotel"
Because, what happened is, when I have a lost of accommodations, it then says "Type: Accommodations Provider" instead of hotel :-)
So my admin.reservations file had : $stars[] = mosHTML::makeOption('0', $resmaster->lng->TYPEHOTEL); instead of $stars[] = mosHTML::makeOption('0', $resmaster->lng->HOTEL);
Oh god I'll rather stay away from trying to understand this high-end php :-D
But I've restored it, and I'll patiently wait for v3.5!

You can set up unlimited accommodation types in IOSR 3.5+ and they are also multi-lingual.

i'm so sorry for my english, it's not so good, i'm french people ;). I also have this problem after transfert my database on another domain name. Before i use on hosting and i install already IOS reservation with my licence key. I transfert the DNS to change our new hosting. i process to save our database, also all our website and after the transfert, our website working. This ok, but i cannot update IOS Reservation ??? the error is : AUTHENTICATION CHECK FAILED, UPDATE IOS RESERVATIONS CORE FILES, ERROR642H2 ?
some people have a idea ? i don't know also if my licence is activate or not ?

Each IOSR component runs under a certain domain name. The domain name that set when you purchase it.
Communicate with Is Open Source (http://isopensource.com/).
Correction by datahell: The component "locks" on the site's URL (not on the domain name) during activation (not during purchase).
