Title: favicon.ico file size parameter
Post by: benone on March 05, 2010, 15:26:24
Hi people.

Normally this should be something like 16X16, 32X32.. but is there a way of setting this in Elxis? I'm trying to use a 32X32 favicon file but Elxis displays it as 16X16 and I don't know which file controls this behavior. Any help? Thanks in advance.

elxis display nothing... just offers the file to your browser.
your browser and none else....displays it as 16x16

the file is inside images folder

I suppose I got confused after haven seen a browser displaying what would even seem to be 16X32. I noticed this on a page using ssl. Thank you anyway for the info.

Does the format have to be either 16 X 16 or 32 X 32. Can it not be something like 20 X 32 ?

Also how do you save it as a .ico file? Which programs saves it in this format? I cant seem to save it as .ico with photoshop.

actual the problem is not the exactly dimensions you make the file ..but how browsers render it... this is usally 16x16...

ico format is correct(for browsers) to be 16x16 or 32x32 and must have a certain pallet of colors...etc... ect.... googleit for more

ico format generator ...  search google for free soft.. there are a lot

or

use an online-generator  such as ... http://tools.dynamicdrive.com/favicon/

or

download the ico format plugin for photoshop that i attached here

Hi. Sorry i got to you late. You can simply shrink any image to 16X16 or 32X32 then save it as a *bitmap* file, then you can change its extension to .ico.
