Title: SEO Pro Problem
Post by: cdss on August 07, 2009, 20:30:49
Hoping for a little help with an SEO Pro problem.  Not sure if there is any way to fix it.

I have set up the following website www.cdss.ca and it is running Elxis with SEO Pro enabled.  However, there appears to be no way to use SEO Pro and select multiple categories of content.  The home page feeds off the news, events, and other sections of our website.  We linked to the home pages manually using the un-SEO-friendly URLs, but there still appears to be problems with the footer navigation that allows visitors to view previous content items.

So basically I have two questions:

1.  Is there any way to use SEO Pro and enable multiple categories on one blog.

otherwise:

2.  Is there any way to correct the issue with the footer navigation on the home page.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello cdss,

First of all, nice site.  When SEO Pro is enabled it takes into account all content that you have entered into Elxis.
It is not enabled of a piece by piece basis.

The footer navigation problem that you are having is not related to SEO pro.  You could try disabling the footer navigation through the global configuration -> content -> content item navigation.

Another possibility is to try the following sequence:
tools -> clean cache
tools -> empty temporary
tools -> fix language
reason being that you are using 2 languages but have not completed an equality between the two.

Also, I assume that you have set your rewrite base in .htaccess

Thanks again for your feedback.

I tried to hide content item navigation and it doesn't work and ideally I would like to keep it anyway.

I followed all your directions in terms of tools to try and clean up temporary files and it didn't change anything.

How do I set an equality between the languages?

I think the issue is related to the SEO Pro function because the page worked fine before it was enabled.  The page feeds off several different blog categories.  In other words there is no neat way for Elxis to link to the blog category because it consists of more than one.  And the footer navigation works on any pages where there is only a single blog category (example: http://www.cdss.ca/blog/elxis-media/).

Any other suggestions? I have a feeling that it something with Elxis that cannot be corrected.  SEO Pro doesn't seem to work with multiple blog categories on one page.

first of all...

empty your recycle-bin of any menu link...

this is the first to do...

clean cache

then re-check your menu-links and their parametres

check again

note: different menu-links form various menus pointing to the same link-page can  show different things if they are configured so...

The trash is empty as well.

I've decided to use the FrontPage Manager module instead and simply select the content items I want on the front page.  This seems to work for our purposes, even though it is not as automated as the other method.

Thanks for all the feedback, it is appreciated.
