Title: Star Gallery Failed 1 Images
Post by: xmanhattan on April 25, 2009, 19:05:51
Hello all,

I tried to load my pictures from Greek Easter and I received this error.

Failed 1 Images

Elxis 2008.1 with star gallery 1.7

Total number of pictures are 63 at 3.6mb.  File names are formatted like 2009_0420_050.jpg

This is the first time that this has happened.

Ivan,

I realize that it's always nice to move forward to newer, bigger, and better but I would like to know if anyone knows why this happened even if I have to correct it myself.

you have nothing to worry about....

simply you have in the folder other files than those allowed... so this file failed...

more common file in your folder that will produce that error , specially with windows is .thumbs (or something like this)   just look for hidden files

ks-net,

Thanks but I wish it were that simple.  There are only jpg's in my zip file.

Work around for those who cannot or do not wish to update their program.
This method does not require a great amount of knowledge or time.

Optional but recommended
Renaming pictures for ease and logic
If you have a multi-renaming tool great, if not I use windows commander and that has one.
rename your pictures in sequence so that they have a name layout like
nameofplace_year_mm_dd_xxx
This will help keep things neat and orderly.  The xxx is the picture sequence number.

main method
You will need to create 3 temporary folders, say temp1, temp2, temp3.
Place the pictures that you want to use into temp1 on your local system.
Use picassa to see the pictures, then grab all the pictures for export.
Use export with a setting of say 640 and export to temp2 with or without the watermark feature.
Use export again with a setting of 80 or 100 and export to temp3 to create your thumbnails.
Thumbnails do not need to have a th_ beginning added.

Ftp into your site and go to:
/images/star_pictures                 upload your pictures from temp2 here
/images/star_thumbnails             upload your thumbnails from temp3 here
Quit ftp
Log into elxis
Go to star gallery, create your picture category
Go to star gallery, view pictures
Start with the last picture because there is no way to resort them afterwards.
Continue with all the pictures from the end to the beginning and that's it.

have you  worked on this?

what is all these above you wrote? a solution to what?

I mean ... what was the problem finally? and why to do all these?

please explain so user wont be confused...

Ps. As far as i can understand in case that you haven't other( hidden file?)  file than image-file  -in your folder-  then you had a broken image file i that folder.
from the begining you are talking about mass-upload in stargallery.. aren't you?

ks-net,

What I have written is my solution to the problem written in the post.

There were no broken images or non-image files in the zip.  Using a zip file of images means batch upload.

The same pictures that were in the zip are now up at my site.

This is a work-around plain and simple.
