Title: SMTP emails
Post by: aiden11 on April 24, 2009, 00:19:06
Hello,

Somehow my website stopped sending emails when users do register, reserve something online or subscribe to newsletter.
It was working fine few days ago but dont know what happened.
I use SMTP as the server i host the site doesn't allow phpmail function due to spam.
Any idea what might cause this?

Did you changed the password? Is the account still valid? Is the mailbox not full?
Set up this account on your computer (outlook, thunderbird, etc) and try to send and receive e-mails using this account from your computer.

If you used to sent e-mails without problem, and you did n't changed anything then why you can n't send e-mails now? This is weird...

Check the apache's error.log after sending an e-mail. If there is a problem then there will be an error report there that will help you solve the problem. In some servers files/directories writeable permissions can cause serious problems.

Other ideas:
Try setting up Elxis SMTP with another e-mail account and, if possible, on another mail server. Make also sure that all Elxis related files are fine and not broken. Download from elxis-downloads.com a clean Elxis 2008.0/1 (what ever you use) and overwrite the contents of the existing includes/phpmailer/ and includes/Core/ folders with those of the new downloaded Elxis.

Thanks for the reply.
I did try a different email account from a different server but still the same issue.

I will try to replace those files you mentioned and see what does happen.

Will keep you posted.
