Title: Does the English to Greek translation work?
Post by: xmanhattan on August 26, 2008, 13:00:03
Hello all,

Just tried to translate a content item from English to Greek and it did not work.
Please see the attached image of what it produced.
No text was produced in the text areas and I tried using a Greek content item to English and that produced the same results.
This was done using the live production.

As an alternate method, is it possible to use the translator class from my linux system to do the translations?

Petros

The translation mechanism takes recourses from babelfish (if I remember correctly).

What does that mean ?
If babelfish, has a problem you will not be able to make the translation.
If your installation has permission errors you will not be able to make the translation.

I have met this problem in the past, and datahell give me the answer, which now I don't remember with details.

The automatic translation is based on third parties free web translators. As these 3rd parties have changed their translating scripts Elxis 2008.0 translator does not work. But we changed Elxis translator class at version 2008.1 to be compatible with the changes they made, so the translator works again for Elxis 2008.1. Be patient until Elxis 2008.1 is released.

Patience is a virtue of mine, and besides all good things are worth the wait.
Thank you,
