Title: Is there a update Path from 2006.4 to 2008 ?
Post by: martin.lehmann on July 10, 2008, 01:55:47
Hello,

i have the simple question to all Members:

- what is the best update-path for an existing 2006.4 ELXIS-installation (with many content in it) to version 2008 ?

PS: i can really not understand, why this forum and the developers are the meaning (and accept it), that the
update-path is to make a new installation. If this is really so, this was my last Elxis-Installation and i install
a product from that i know, that it has over many years in the past had always a successful update-path.

Every Developer from a CMS has to accept, that there must be always a update path between the versions.
Many user invest many time to create Website-Content. If a clear update path is not the way in that the
developer made the version-rollouts, the product has only one point of view: -> Lose no time with that product !
Elxis-Developers: Make better "small steps", than such a big one if this "big step" has no update-path, or make
a "export" or "import" - function for the whole content.

A clear commitment from the ELXIS-Developers to develop in that way for the future (and for the 2008-Update)
can help the elxis user group to trust ELXIS also in the future. I really in hope for that commitment.

Best Regards    Martin
