Hello,
I am now using elxis live and received the following error when I entered into the global configuration area:
PHP: tempnam() [function.tempnam]: open_basedir restriction in effect. File() is not within the allowed path(s): (/home/enosi:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php:/tmp)
uri: index2.php?option=com_config&hidemainmenu=1
path: /administrator/components/com_config/admin.config.php
version: Elxis 2008.0 Stable rev1891 [ Olympus ] 10-February-2008 00:39 GMT+2
WARNING(2): /home/enosi/public_html/includes/KFTP/KFTP.php, line 156
The installation went well and I have also checked the global checkin and system information and have not seen why this has happened.

First of all, tell us are you using FTP support (in global config)?
-
Yes, I have included the information for ftp support.
I didn't see anything that says that I should not although if I am updating the site online I do not see the need for it especially if I upload graphics via my ftp program.
How do I correct the problem?
I just disabled it and now I have received the following error while entering a new section:
Fatal error: Call to undefined method mosSection::getErrorMsg() in /home/enosi/public_html/administrator/components/com_sections/admin.sections.php on line 284
-
Try to turn open_basedir on, just for a test, and tell me if error has disappeared.
-
Thanks for getting back to me.
I added that to the .htaccess file but the server does not like it. Don't know if this helps.

Well, I have found a major problem that I believe should be known. While I have been using phpmyadmin to export the db and then to import to the live site, I found that even with small version differences, the tables can have problems.
I then used the database manager in elxis to export the db in sql. After that I used phpmyadmin to import the db into the live area and this worked correctly.
Now, I have a new problem which I cannot understand, and it is that the site has no menus or content showing but everything is in the admin and db.
Help?
pls see http://www.enosismyrneon.gr/elxis/ (http://www.enosismyrneon.gr/elxis/)

Check your database's encoding. It should be utf8 and not latin1.
-
I have it set to utf8_general_ci.

If you want, give me access to the Admin panel so i can check it for you. :)
PM me, for more.

Hi, i'm answering from here, for future reference ;) I got in the admin area. Firstly i published the "select language" module and i saw it working fine. After that i did the same with the "Main menu" module. So i decided to go to the Tools area, and do a FIX LANGUAGE (see attachment).
Don't know what the problem was exactly as it seems the "fix language" process fixed the errors. http://www.enosismyrneon.gr/elxis/ is working fine.
- If u face other problems, plz update this topic.
- You may change your login password exc. FTP... didn't use it.

Thank you very much. I can't believe that was all that had to be done.

I won't forget what Datahell told me, when i first started using Elxis. His post is somewhere in this forum ;D
Whenever you face problems with an elxis installation, try firstly to run the "fix language" tool. ;)
