As we continuously been asked about the 2008 final release date I post here the current project status and I will update this post regularly.

Project status: DEV (unstable)
Current revision: 1590 (Elxis 2006.4 had 1080)
Code name: Vampire (for the development version)
Final code name: -
Things we still need to do:
- Templates (frontend, backend, login screen)
- Various small changes/fixes.
- Frontend, backend translation
- Prepare documentation, manuals and information for developers (like templates how-to)
- Prepare support, distribution, elxis.org etc.
At this moment Elxis 2008 can be installed and used normally (with the above notifications). More detailed information are only available to Elxis Team members.
Estimated development stop date: 07/10/2007 (It was the end of september but we added 1 more week as we added a new feature lately).
Estimated final build date (stable - everything checked): 04/11/2007
Estimated "Elxis Box" release date (available in stores): 01/12/2007 (Elxis 2008, templates, extra components, manual etc)
Estimated public release date: 01-31/12/2007
Please don't ask more, we are in great pressure this period and work very hard for Elxis. Everything will be announced in time.

Here are the remaining tasks for the Elxis 2008 core.
- The new administration template (Magnet) is almost ready. In the next 2-3 days we will finish it and we will also do some small additions in html for better RTL compatibility.
- We still don't have a front-end template. It will be created after the administration template.
- Some small fixes needed for SEO PRO and blog category view.

We still work on display issues.
Latest completed tasks:
- Elxis installer
- Administration template (Magnet)
- Login screen (Olympus)
- RTL support for backend
Currently we work on:
- RTL support for frontend
- Frontend template
- Standard CSS files
- Typography/ wcag/xhtml checks for frontend
The above tasks will be finished in 4-6 days.
Volunteers currently work on:
-Translation of help files
Tasks we have n't yet started:
- SEO PRO test
- General Elxis test
Other things we should do:
- Give administration language files for translation
- Give frontend language files for translation
Notice: we have n't yet released language files for translation as we still do some minor changes/additions to them.

Just completed tasks:
- Frontend template ("Okto")
- RTL in frontend
- XHTL/CSS/WCAG fixes in frontend
- New users list page
- System links
Okto template features:
RTL compatible, SEO optimized, table-less design, XHTML/CSS valid, 3-column layout, variable width, compatible with all modern browsers.
Things we have still to do:
- Perform a general check on SEO PRO
- Add sample content
- Give to volunteers front-end / back-end language files for translation
We are very close on finishing Elxis 2008!

Elxis 2008 development has definitevely finished.
We are now adding the default sample content.
Default sample content is mostly a presentation of the Elxis 2008 focusing on the new features and updates.
We will give Elxis front-end and back-end language files for translation in 2-3 days.

The default "Sample Data Package" was finished.
Elxis installer creates multilingual menus and arranges installed content in relation with the selected published languages and sample data package creating a fully functional multilingual website from the installation. You have never seen something like this!
We still need to do some small fixes on the default frontend and backend templates regarding browser compatibility and CSS (mostly for the f...ing IE6).

Elxis 2008.0 [Olympus] is ready for use.
In order Elxis 2008 to be released we still need to complete the documentation. We hope everything will be ready around December 15, 2007 and so, you will able to get the new powerful version of Elxis CMS.

Elxis project is being re-organized. This includes changes to many crucial areas in order to ensure the Elxis' future.
The end users and the third party developers wont be affected negatively by these changes (only positive).
A development version of Elxis 2008.0 will be released in the middle of January 2008.
