We are planing on creating an Elxis downloads / distribution centre where you will be able to upload anything elxis-related you wish (templates, modules, components etc) and visitors will download it for use in their Elxis sites. Do you think this would be usefull? Would you upload anything on it or you would just use it to download things from it?

What is datahell wants to say is that we will create this distribution center, only if it will be useful.
How can it be useful?
Only if you support it.
You can support it, by using it to share templates, components, modules, bots, docs that you have created or modified for Elxis.
People will be able to download your contributions and you will be able to download other peoples contributions.

I found it very useful and i will use it.
I am creating some module's and template's for Elxis in my free time.
That I create for the Elxis community I will upload it if the distribution center will be created.

if ELXIS personels can manage and control the contents and verify them , it will be very usefull, otherwise it's hard to decide about security and trust contents ... so i think that should define a rule for manage and verify these ... :)

As I've already wrote to another post I tried in the past with Mambo the translation of the calendar in Greek Language (don't forget that many Greek people can't manage other languages very well). I'll do that again for Elxis. When I'm finished I'll send it to Elxis Team and check the compability with Elxis.
I'm also working on very good template which I found very nice and (thanks to your template guide) I'm setting it up for Elxis.
So I'm waiting for this session to be created.
Just because YOU in Elxis Team make a very good work.

Calendar has been already been multilingual and translated to many languages. It will be available with Elxis 2007. So, thanks for your offer but there is no need!

That is definitely a must. Just think of templates, especially when (if) Joomla moves on to 1.5: People will need a place to look for things doing well on Elxis without much adaption work.
I might add a beta version Japanese frontend language file as soon as possible, which should not go to the list of approved language files yet. So I guess it could be useful for some people to have an elaborated remository that gives them access to beta files as well.

I didn't know that and how could I (Elxis 2007 has not been published yet).
But If there is something else I could help -especially with translation from English - don't bother to anoy me. I think I can manage it.

Why not directly in the Elxis software? I would better like to see all the new downloads by category in my Elxis, choose wich one I want, and automatically be downloaded and installed on my website.
Hum... maybe it is too complicated.

We have already did that! Install and use updiag tool... The download centre will be mostly useful for the third party developers to upload their software. We will create it when we find some time.

I am a new member here,
I believe that if there is a place that you can find everything you want in one place is good. I totally like the Joomla site where it has all extensions together by using a directory module. More helpful that way.
I don't know if this is exactly what you are thinking to do but if you make something like that it will be better. Elxis.org has everything but as it is now, it's very difficult to detect everything (you move from Elxis.org to Goup and back).
