Title: page parameters.[SOLVED]
Post by: Amigamerlin on February 17, 2011, 19:49:31
Hello guys,
I need you help to spot a little problem.
I've a page where I setup some parameters like Author Names: hide, Created Date and Time:hide, Modified Date and Time: hide, but all this parameters still visible.
To get them not visible I've to setup them all Hide in the general configuration page but I don't want to do this .
Seems that the page parameters contained in the Article Parameter Control page are not applied

Can someone helping me to understand why this happen?
Thank you.

This can happen under one condition: elxis does not find the proper menu item to load, so it loads a menu item of the parent category, section, or even frontpage. If you set up your menu items correctly you wont have this problem.

Note: The thing with the menu items is something I never liked. This system derives from the mambo days, and even joomla still uses it. It is a bad and strange system. We have complete deleted it in the upcoming Elxis Nautilus. In Elxis Nautilus the information of what parameters the page should have is not set on the menu item that links to that page but on the article/category itself.

To better undertstand if it's my fault I've downloaded ELXIS from elxis download center 5 minutes ago and freshly installed locally.
Once have got it fully working from the back end I've modified the item " Need Help With Elxis?"  present in the standard installation ( section "Newsflashes") forcing this page to hide Author Name , from the Parameter Control Page.
Well the Author name still visible despite my settings is set to hide :o .

Please can you explain me what happen?

Is not enough to hide author's name into parameters of the specific content item, but to do the same to the menu item which makes this content item to be displayed.

This you did will not display author's name only when you click the title link of the specific content item. If you want to understand it better, go to Main Global Configuration -> Content and set Link Titles to Yes. By this way each title of each content item will be a link to each content item.

Solon was a Greek philosopher and 2000 years ago he said "Γηράσκω αεί διδασκόμενος" which is this you said and we all say very often.

Amigamerlin no one is forced to help. We provide volunteer support here. Please be more gentle next time.

I am working on Elxis Nautilus the last 2 months, I am focused there. I dont remember all Elxis 2009.x settings. In fact I never liked the parameters system as it is now. This is one of the things that is going to change in the future versions. To answer a question sometimes I need to go to see the code and this can not be done all the time as I work on other things.

Thanks nikos for your help.

Ciao Datahell, I'm sorry to read this. I never thought that I was not gentle talking with you, and I'm really really sorry if I bored you. I'm not a kid and I can well understand all you have wrote. Is in my nature, when facing a problem, asking to someone that have the knowledge since was the "creator", and anyway I always ask about disturbing if I can or not. But I never never thought to be rude.
My friend, don't worry I'll not disturb you anymore using "non conventional" way.

I think to be a polite person and I would like to be remembered like this way. Respect is the first word in my vocaboulary.Sorry again.

Ciao
