Title: question about updating or upgrade
Post by: xmanhattan on November 14, 2008, 10:47:34
Hello all,

Is it possible to do a new installation with the latest version and then import a 2008.0 sql?

The real question is whether or not there will be any problems and if the databases are compatible?

Another question is if the elxis_patch_2008.1_r2204_2218 can be used instead of elxis_2008.0_2008.1_updater to bring elxis 2008.0 up to date with the latest version?

Do not try to import in Elxis 2008.1 an Elxis 2008.0 database except if you absolutely sure what you do. Inexperienced with SQL and Elxis' inner db structure users will surely mess up their sites. And off course you never import the full database, elsewhere you will have serious problems! (for example you may have twice the same users, the same ACLs, duplicated softdisk entries, etc, etc).

This patch: elxis_patch_2008.1_r2204_2218 updates from Elxis 2008.1 r2204 to Elxis 2008.1 r2218, not from 2008.0.
"r" stands for "revision" it is an internal auto-increment ID (SVN keyword) we use to watch the project's progress.
