Title: (SOLVED) Hostmonster Addon Domains: addons defaulting to main domain
Post by: anker368 on November 05, 2008, 01:33:45
Hope you can help.

I already have latest Elxis working with my main domain at Hostmonster.  I have since begun adding a few more domains as Addons.  Problem is, typing the addon url's into a fresh browser only takes me to the main domain each time.

Addons appear to have been created correctly (e.g., as subdomains to the rootdomain.com) and the document root appears correct as well (home/public_html/subdomain).  These subdomains have also not been redirected.

I have added the standard files to the folders for those subdomains since they were not automatically populated.  Do I need to upload Elxis again for each additional site?  I did try uploading another Elxis for one of the addon domains (including the Installation files), but I could not get to the Elxis installer or even get these new addon domains to act independently at all.  I also adjusted Rewritebase in .htaccess (example: changed from RewriteBase / to RewriteBase /subdomain/), but there was no visible result.

Any suggestions?  Is this a Hostmonster issue or an Elxis issue?  I am quite the newbie, so it is most definitely a "me" issue, but I could use some help as where to start looking for a fix.  I apologize if this topic is repetitive - - I tried following advice in other posts to no avail.

Thank you very much.

are you able to  reach every subdomain's root dir... if so you can do:

one or more( in subdirs) clean and from the start installations of elxis.
take care of RewriteBase Rule for every installation.

every elxis installation must be uniqie... in it's own folder and with if one DB prefix: elx_ ...elx1 ...ellx2...

No this is not elxis fault.

maybe your servers fault(if  you can not  reach this subdomains from yor browser)

Thank you for response.

I am able to reach the root directories for these subdomains, so I will delete Elxis files, upload Elxis again, and try reinstalling.

Solved!

Followed your instructions and have solved this issue.

I had tried this previously, but unsuccessfully.  I must not have done a thorough job of it.  Thank you so much for your help.
