Title: Add your Elxis support/community site in Elxis 2008
Post by: datahell on November 05, 2007, 09:02:25
Do you have a local Elxis support/community site in your country? A Turkish support site for Elxis for example and you are NOT a company? Then tell me your site's URL ( must be Elxis! ) to add it in the default's Elxis installation in component weblinks. We accept only community sites with free content.

If you are a company or an individual professional and you want to promote your site, your services and your business through the Elxis' default installation/content please contact GO UP Inc (www.goup.gr). We also accept banners and RSS feeds.

Elxis 2008 default content is a perfect way to promote your business, as thousands of users see your company everyday.

If you are interesting please hurry up!

elxis-srbija.org is OK
persianelxis.com does not exist so it is not acceptable. If you manage to have it online before Elxis 2008 release it will be added.
farsicms.org is offline and a support site for your local modification of Elxis. It is not acceptable.

persianelxis.com is OK but it does not exist! We can not add links to sites that do not exist, I hope you understand this. You may never finish it or add a redirect to somewhere else. We need ready, online community sites. When you think it will be ready? If it will be ready in maximum a month we will add it.

Elxis is scarcely known in Japan.
It is translating by only me still now, and there is no site which is introducing Elxis.

Moreover, since a part of Back-End of 2006.4 has not been translated, the publicity work in Japan has not carried out yet.
I think that I will rebuild and release a site after the Japanese translation of 2008 is actually completed.
Although we are able to access to this site currently, it is not taking out except the link of my profile of this forum.
Can I request later about the following link?
http://www.elxis.jp/ (http://www.elxis.jp/)

I would like to popularize CMS with such a wonderful feature very much in Japan. :)

For that purpose, I have to study and master English much more. :'( Although the word to understand is also meaningful somehow, it is because I am translating by most depending on a dictionary now.

Regards,

Neither mine English is my mother language. We have to have a common language in order to communicate. But Elxis can speak any language. This is why it is so important your translations and your local community sites. From the very beggining of Elxis we tried to make Elxis a CMS that respects local languages. For me Greek is much more important language than English (I hate english), for momo-i Japanese is much more important language than English, for farhad the most important language in the world is Persian and so on. Why? Because these languages are our mother languages. We can express ourselves better in our language. We are surrounding of a world that speaks and thinks in our language. You are the people that make Elxis a part of your civilization. Your translation work is very important. Your local community sites are also very important.

momo-i I will add your site.

yes , i tried very much to bring some cms to persian , i could bring phpnuke to persian and RTL , i could bring phpbb to persian and RTL , i could bring MODx to persian and RTL , this was very hard work and it needed lots of patience , many cms don't support RTL and first time we want to use it , we have this problem that we couldn't use them   :'( , we should read all HTMLs & JAVASCRIPT codes and bring them to RTL , this was very hard in many sections , specially in JAVASCRIPTs , another problem was in encoding , they couldn't support persian language because they didn't support UTF-8 , this is very simple for you that use LTR languages , you need only translate language files , also many of you use christian date , but our date is solar date (this year is 1386) we should convert all dates to solar date , so you have much more times to assign to development the codes , but i should first translate language files , make many codes RTL also Javascripts , make templates RTL , make fields true alignment , make dates solar , ... now i can use it  !!! now i can start to develop few site , now i can develop some addons for it ...  ::)
if i had more times , i could develop many more codes (that i like development rather than bring cms to persian and RTL)
so you can thanks god
so i apply all of these patiences to offer a true cms package to my peoples ...
this is a matter that ioannis told ...

You will have much less work to do for the new version farhad, unfortunately  ;) Elxis 2008 is RTL ready in installation, front-end, back-end and in XML parameters. You will only have to implement the solar dates which I think it is very easy as Elxis 2008 uses the mosFormatDate and strftime_os functions everywhere. No more hardcoded dates exists. There are also available php classes in the internet which you can easily implement in these functions. In the first 2008.x update we will add automatic solar calendar support to Elxis.

I just made a small test. I found this class:

http://www.phpclasses.org/browse/package/2256.html

that converts Jalali dates to Gregorian and vice-versa. Do you want to implement it from now to Elxis? I think it is very simple but I dont know if the output is right. For example it says that now is:

Gregorian: 07/11/2007 (d -m - Y) - month: november, day: wednesday
Jalali: 16/08/1386 (d -m - Y) - month: آبان day: چهارشنب

All Arabs use Jalali or only Iranians?
I suppose the time is the same...  ;D
Do you think there should be an enable/disable switch or Elxis should convert automatically dates to Jalali when language is Persian?

john , i have already used code to convert all dates to solar , i make it only when persian language selects, jalali (solar) date is only for persians so we can change dates when persian language selects however it is good that user can choose any of them  , arabs use lunar date , this year is 1428 in lunar date , i will tell you about how to convert dates to solar date ...

Ok if you want make a modification to mosFormatDate (elxis.php) and strftime_os (locale.php) functions and send them to me. You should start from something like this:

$selectedlang = (defined(_ELXIS_ADMIN)) ? $GLOBALS['alang'] : $GLOBALS['lang'];
if (($selectedlang == 'persian') || ($selectedlang == 'farsi')) {
      .....jalali convertion....
}

Dont use external files or extra language files if possible.

Very good silas.

Two things I saw on your site:
1. Don't give Elxis download link from your site. Why? Because it might be outdated, it might be wrong, people are getting confused etc. Always use the default Elxis.org download link (https://www.elxis.org/index.php?option=com_fserver&f=97).
2. If you wish to build the Elxis Community web site with the Elxis 2008 contact me to send you the full version.

Something else: We create a new site to download and upload extensions for Elxis CMS. It will be ready in 7-15 days.

Well, I have removed this downloads from the site. The new Extension Site will be interesting. Very good!
Sure I am interested to build the site with Elxis 2008. Would be nice if you send me a full Version. Thanks a lot!

Lithuanian www.elxis.lt is coming too. I just want to know how much I can modify the official Elxis logo (like momo-i did in www.elxis.jp or Coursar did with the Russian version of Elxis)?

Just as long as you keep it recognisable. There are no special guidelines. Try to keep it's visual identity, however. :)

Please notice that the Elxis slogan has been changed to:
Open Source CMS

Don't use the old one:
The professional Open Source CMS

It is not required to display any slogan and you can also make modification of the Elxis logo as long it is recognizable.

By the way, datahell. What concerns slogan, I see it's not changed in www.elxis.org and www.elxis-demo.com websites as well as in logo files for downloading, changes can be found only in Elxis 2008 DEV version. But I saw it only now, after you said, shame on me  :'( It's neccesary to correct all the places, where the slogan can be found as soon as possible that other people won't make the same mistake I did  :(.
