Greetings
I’m new to Elxis and yesterday I installed Elxis on my server.
One of the first I try to get working is the SEO pro but, when I save the action I get
this error and need help to solve this problem.
Could not connect to FTP host: localhost
BTW, after playing with the demo for few days, I can say Elxis is the best free cms I
have seen so far and I have seen hundreds if not thousands in past few years!
The help section and information to get it up and running that comes with it, is outstanding.
In hope someone can help ASAP!

Thanks Dennis and welcome to Elxis.
Most probably you have wrong FTP settings. On Elxis 2009.0+ there is a "check ftp settings" link in Elxis global configuration. If you dont know the proper FTP settings you better turn off FTP.

I would say that it's an optional choice.!
Welcome ...!

Thanks guys.
The only thing I can think of is if the port is not right as I know the FTP settings,
I added this info myself during installation. The FTP Port is 21, could it be something else?
Do I need to have the FTP open for any reason?
I tried to turn FTP off but then I get the same error again!
Could not connect to FTP host: localhost

Usually the FTP port is 21 etc http port is 80 or 8080 HTTP Alternate in some cases.
Take a look : http://www.iana.org/assignments/port-numbers
You don't need to have the FTP program open!
Ftp host could be something like : ftp.yourdomain.com
Ftp path try to use something like : /

FTP is optional. While installing Elxis, jump to next step living FTP configuration input boxes blank. Elxis does not complain.

As I cannot close the FTP in manager, which file and where in
that file can I close the FTP?

To disable FTP, you need to make changes under Global Configurations->FTP area. Enable ftp: No, FTP Host: localhost and FTP Port: 21 and save the configuration (make sure the configuration.php file is writeable.
If you can't make changes in Global Configurations area than just modify the configuration.php file as follows.
Please make the copy of configuration.php before making modifications.
Following code will disable ftp altogether.
$mosConfig_ftp = '0';
$mosConfig_ftp_host = 'localhost';
$mosConfig_ftp_user = '';
$mosConfig_ftp_pass = '';
$mosConfig_ftp_port = '21';
$mosConfig_ftp_root = '';

Thanks for the help, the FTP is off now.
