Title: Global Configuration
Post by: CREATIVE Options on December 31, 2006, 01:16:51
After many installations for new websites, I have met the first problem that I can’t resolve… (agrrr….)

Installation -> OK
Front-end -> OK
Back-end -> OK
Publish content -> OK

For many days access to Global Configuration was ok, BUT later… I don’t know what happened, I can’t view the page, it shows up only the header (elxis logo) the 4 buttons (save, apply, cancel, help) with the “mainmenu” of administration hidden and then only one blank row with border.

In the error console I got only 2 errors,

1st at the file “editor_ui.css” for the line 175 (editor)
filter:progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.Alpha(opacity=30);

2nd at the address http://www.mydomain.com/administrator/index2.php?option=com_config&hidemainmenu=1 without any specific error

I would like to ask for help from the members, if any one has met the same problem as me and how he resolved it, or if any of the developers of Elxis (eliasan, datahell) can help me.

Download and open configuration.php with an editor that supports utf-8. Search for anything that seems wrong such as unescaped quotes or un-terminated php strings. Save configuration.php encoded as utf-8 in your site. If the problem persists, send me your configuration.php to check it.

Thank you Datahell for your response,

I have checked the file many times, even before I asked for help.

I am sending you the file with PM.

Once again thank you for your help.

Για βάλε:
$mosConfig_ftp_root = '/public_html';

Πάντως δεν ξέρω τι redirect έχεις κάνει αλλά το elxis δεν υπάρχει στο site σου....

Datahell, thank you for the reply

but the input of ftp root, didn't solve the problem.

And what do you mean that Elxis doesn't exist on my website?

If you check the url in the configuration.php you will see that the url is www.creativeoptions.eu and it is with Elxis.

As for the redirection I have one from the www.creativeoptions.gr to .eu through the cpanel.

Your main domain, as I saw, is creativeoptions.gr. Creativeoptions.eu is a redirect. So, this:
$mosConfig_absolute_path = '/home/sirigos/public_html'; points to the .gr account. Absolute paths does not get redirected! You have setup your site wrong. Enter your .eu domain's control panel which is the one you have set that Elxis is on. Where are elxis files????? Sorry, this issue is beyond the help we provide from here.

I don't know what you have in mind, and why you think that my setup is wrong datahell, but with this "wrong" setup as you say, creativeoptions.eu has been working for many weeks now.

The problem I mentioned appeared a few days ago.
And the redirection doesn't seem to have anything to do with it (different host account, different server).

Anyway, thank you for your help, I will try a bit more to solve the problem alone before I buy a PRO Elxis support.

That's it for now, I have to go out to celebrate the new year.

Happy new year to all members & administrators.

Today I have found a little time, and I checked the problem.

I have located the problem in only one file, the file “admin.config.html.php” inside the folder “/public_html/administrator/components/com_config”.

It was absolutely empty! ! ! I don’t know how but was it empty.

I have replaced it with a new one and now the Global Configuration page is editable through the administrator page.
