Title: eBlog - cannot save changes or post
Post by: anker368 on January 21, 2009, 21:55:37
Hello,

I am Super Administrator on my site.  I can log in to the front end and successfully add standard content and save it.  But I cannot save a new eblog post from front end.  I also cannot save changes to my eblog settings from the front end (get following message after clicking SAVE: "You are not authorized to view this resource.").

Another user (Administrator) working remotely was able to post to his eblog and also log in under my user name and post to my eblog.  So I tried again making sure I was logging in from another IP, but still could not save changes to my eblog.  It also apparently logs me out.

I have tried with both Firefox & Internet Explorer...no luck.
I have tried from a different IP address...no luck.
I tried from my mobile device...no luck.
I was able to add on one of my other, similar sites and had success twice, but cannot repeat that success.
As mentioned above, another Administrator for my site can log on as me and save changes to my eBlog
I am using the latest elxis version (i.e.., elxis_2008.1_Nemesis_rev2245) .

Any idea what may be going wrong?  Can I post to an eblog from the back end?

Thank you very much.

This message appears when you try to add/edit a post on a eblog that you don't own. You must be the eblog's owner to add/edit posts. See eblog settings in Elxis administration to see which user you have set as the eblog owner.

Thank you.  I am correctly set as the owner of this blog.

To test this ownership angle, I have tried longing in using my colleague's user id and password, and then editing his eblog.  But that doesn't work.  However, if we do that vice versa and he logs in with my id and password, he can indeed edit my eblog.  So I am confused.

Are you sure you login using his data? Check the username when you login, is it your colleague's? See your user profile. If you have checked the option "remember me" you might login automatically as a different user...

To make things clear:
Login to elxis administration and edit eblog's settings. Set the owner of the specific eblog to what ever Elxis user you want.
Log out from administration.
Log in to elxis front-end as the eblog owner you previously set.
Navigate to the specific eblog, you should see a "control panel" link on the top, click it to add/edit eblog's posts.

Yes, I tried your approach of changing the eBlog owner previously (and have just now tried it again to be certain) and made sure I was logging in correctly and fully with the appropriate user/password.  But I still receive the same error message.

Incidentally, I have always been able to reach the Control Panel for Add/Edit, but cannot proceed past that point once I press the Save button.  For some reason it does not want to hold the login throughout the process.
