Title: Site description on Google Search
Post by: mattyafrica on December 06, 2012, 23:35:00
Hi  :)

I was wondering if anyone is able to help me - I want to change the text that appears below the link when I make a Google search for my site. At the moment it is still registered the standard Elxis info. I have attached a picture to illustrate. The text I am talking about is this:

'Online room reservations at the best hotels, in the best locations and in the best prices. If you wish to book a hotel room, a bungalow, a studio, a villa, ...'

I looked on some forums online and from what I have seen Googlebots determine what goes there when they scan your site, and it is not able to be changed manually. Is this true?

Thanks!
Title: Set META description in IOSR

IOS Reservations under multiple hotels mode sets the META description of its frontpage to the value of the language string METADESCMULTI
You can change that by editing the language files (administrator/components/com_reservations/language/...)
After changing this google might need some time to update the listing or it might not update it at all.
You cannot change manually google's site info and you cannot ask them to do so.

Thanks for the quick reply datahell. This is going to sound really stupid, but I cannot find the path you mention. Which menu is this located under?

You have to use an FTP program (like Filezilla) for the mentioned path  (administrator/components/com_reservations/language/...), Mattyafrica!
