Title: Templates
Post by: Tank on September 25, 2012, 00:00:46
This more of a request/question.

I wonder why Elxis team decided for templates that entry needs to be added to database instead of auto detect a new template folder similar to languages - when new language folder is added, new language is auto detected.

Just curious.  8)

I see,  :)

Well, today I spent all day playing with Nautilus. I really love it.
I played heavily on templating, secondly on ACL, and just tumbled around all over the elxis release.

It took me a while to figure out the templating and the learning curve wasn't too steep.
You guys really did a great job with this CMS. Everything is very flexible and it really feels like I can customize about anything. I especially like the full control Admin has over ACL.
You guys were not kidding when you said you had all flexibility and functionality in mind.
Oh, and it is fast, very fast.

This is just my "test" site. I used to put my comics in this website, but after college started lost time.. so this is just me play site for now.

The design which I am hoping to use for a non-profit ministry with Elxis 4.  ;D
This application is very powerful. Keep it up!

Thanks Tank for your kind words. We tried to develop a fast, secure and flexible core. The interface might not be the best and also it might misses some features. But we dont care about that. The core is ready to support EVERYTHING. This is the important stuff. The content is very upgraded. I dont know if you tested the plugins (guided import) *. The content plugins (old bots) are very improved. Check the already available ones and you will see that in most cases you can do with a tiny plugin what you would do with a component in Elxis 2009.x. For instance you dont need a contact component, you dont need a gallery component, you dont need a downloads components, etc.. With the multi-level content structure and the plugins you can "mimic" almost any "component" you like.

As for the security Elxis uses native php's methods such as PDO and filter_input. PDO makes impossible SQL injections and filter_input sanitize/validates user input. Off course there is Elxis defender, security levels, logging, backup, etc, etc which strenghten more the security.

Just give some time Elxis 4.0, it is yet early, there will sure be bugs, it is a very new CMS and needs some time to become 100% stable.

* To import a plugin into an article click on the Elxis icon on CKeditor and then click on "guided import".

Tip: If you enable file cache and APC your site will speed up like a rocket!

I am playing with Elxis 4. much more today.
There is much to discover.

I will definitely explore more into plugins and such. I noticed from the beginning how different it is, not requiring multiple components to do one job, it is really great.

Thanks for the tip! If I run into anything I'll definitely let you guys know. :))
