Title: Smf "stand alone" bridge qestion
Post by: xenios on January 25, 2007, 12:11:42
Hi guys!

I would like to ask you (propably i beg you) if the smf stand alone could work both the two ways: bridged - and as stand alone in the same time!

I have installed in my site with bridge in a separate subdomain. I would like to make it work simultaneously as bridge and as stand alone!

Many thanks,

Alex!

Yes you can! SMF stand alone is nothing else than saying that Elxis is not bridged with SMF. So you use for example the SMF standalone module for displaying latest posts. In the other hand you can say that the same time Elxis is bridged with SMF and you can even have multiple bridges towards the same SMF installation! Elxis Bridge system allows you to do this, although it requires a small registry hack. Elxis does not sees the SMF as an SMF forum but as an input to its registry. If you have multiple registry inputs for the same third party application you can have multiple bridges to the same third party application.

Note: DO NOT modify registry inputs if you are not absolutly sure what you are doing and you dont have deep knowledge of the Elxis Bridge System. Elxis team is the only authority authorized to produce registry keys.

Don't get disappointed. Elxis gives you the abillity to do what ever you want! What I told you about registry is for your information only. Bridges is an area which is uknown to the 99,9% of Elxis users, so don't touch (modify code) what you don't know what it does!
