The site is installed with the main language is English. I added to the site Russian. Content is still being written in English only. Russian content only as a translation of the existing one. In the old version, they were independent, so why now.
Can I add only the Russian menu and content?
-
Really,
How can we add multilanguage??
i couldnt either..
-
when I create a translation, seo title is old, and is full delirium
category names are the same, or are written in plain English, but the article ....
-
It is vitally important to choose the main language at the outset - when you first install Elxis - because if you want to change it later on, you will have problems. My initial choice was English (because Turkish translation was not available then). When I added Turkish later, I chose it as the main language and had a small chaos.
Today, in my web site (www.dildersleri.gen.tr (http://www.dildersleri.gen.tr)), both the content and the interface (links, directives, etc.) are in both English and Turkish and I face no problem at all. As far as creating content is concerned, Turkish can be a problem language because of certain letters, but UTF8 coding eliminates this risk. I do not know whether the "delirium" problem stems from the Russian language itself.
-
how do you do that?

gen.tr/en/hexe/issue09/paragraph-level-questions/irrelevant-sentence/irrelevant-sentence-test01.html
seo header was in Turkish, after the change, it appears it in both languages equally.

Hi guys,
You go to settings (general tab) then click on the language that you want to use.
Fill in the translations in the general tab for e.g. English in Russian and click on the diskette to save.
After that when you create a new article, assuming that you have selected 2 languages English and Russian, you type in the titles in the first language then click apply. Then go to the article body, enter default language content, click apply, select 2nd language in article body, click apply and publish.
I am not entirely sure that the apply has to be clicked for every action but I do know that this works.
-
title and article body, with meta - All fine, problem with SEO Title - it's only 1! for all language
-
Yes, you are right. I assume that datahell and webgift are aware of this and hopefully it will be corrected in 4.1.
-
thanks,
i hope :-\

Hi guys, after reading the Elxis docs regarding languages, I think that you should be aware of the following line.
The importance of the default language
https://www.elxis.net/docs/using-elxis/administration/language-multilingual-content.html
https://www.elxis.net/docs/using-elxis/administration/language-multilingual-content.html (https://www.elxis.net/docs/using-elxis/administration/language-multilingual-content.html)
If multilingualism is enabled in Elxis configuration then after the element is first saved, the option to add translations to it is activated.
https://www.elxis.net/docs/using-elxis/getting-started/all-about-articles.html (https://www.elxis.net/docs/using-elxis/getting-started/all-about-articles.html)
In other words, you will have to set up another test site and enter the language that you want to use as default first rather than English to see what happens.
I don't know if you can export what work you have already done, and create a new database using only the foreign language items first.
Datahell and Webgift will have to advise on this.
-
nothing new I have not heard
default language Turkish, to it was then added Russian.
The statue was created originally in Turkish, then added a translation into Russian, but the SEO title remains in Turkish
-
This is correct. The SEO is unique and does not change by language, so independently of how many languages you have set in your site, SEO is always that one which is created in main language.
-
Nikos,
I would guess that if someone wants to have the site in 2 or more separate languages, then they might use the virtual website technique because I tried to create a separate category and content in Greek but that would not work using the language selection since my default was english.
If someone wanted to do that, then they would probably have to add some coding to the language selection that would use different routing, e.g.
if english
content:/ default pages
else
content:/el gr pages
The main differences regarding languages between 2009.x and 4.0 is that there is no way to set the default in 4.0 and that the content creation cannot be done separately, e.g. separate categories and content pages that are not (flipping from a translated content pages) aligned, which does not actually have to be done due to language and content differences.

seo failed :'(
good promotion only in the primary language, additional language is necessary in case.
if someone is interested in reading it will change the language.....
-
i am sure datahell will have a solution for this. :)
-
No, and do not be a patch for this ;D
-
I don't see where is the problem.
Scenario 1, site in one language.
If your content is in one language disable all others and write the seo titles romanized for your default language.
Scenario 2, multi-lingual site.
You must pick wisely which is the main language target of your site. Do you have a local business that some times you have international clients too? Do you have an international site, like a turism portal? Do you work mostly with clients from abroad? Does your site provide local information (eg a news portal site) but you also want to have an international version? Each case should be handled diferrently. If your target and content is mostly for international visitors pick English as the default language. If your target and content is mostly for local visitors pick the local language as the default language. SEO titles is prefered to be in english in both cases. The default language should not be changed, if you do so you will create a chaos.
With Elxis 4.x you can do extremely things, there are so many and easy ways to do things you couldn't do with Elxis 2009.x without massive modifications of the source code. If you have specific questions post them below and I will tell you how to do it.

Multi-lingual seo titles won't affect the ranking of your website at search engines as the content of each article separately.
-
Multilingual website ranking appears to be based on the primary language used from what I have read on the subject.
I kept this link as I found it interesting and share it with you. http://www.seerinteractive.com/blog/international-seo-strategy-guide?utm_source=bronto&utm_medium=email&utm_term=Establishing+your+International+SEO+Strategy%3A+How+to+Start+your+International+Web+Presence&utm_content=The+Moz+Top+10+-+February+2013%2C+Issue+2&utm_campaign=Moz+Top+10+-+Feb+%232+2.26.13 (http://www.seerinteractive.com/blog/international-seo-strategy-guide?utm_source=bronto&utm_medium=email&utm_term=Establishing+your+International+SEO+Strategy%3A+How+to+Start+your+International+Web+Presence&utm_content=The+Moz+Top+10+-+February+2013%2C+Issue+2&utm_campaign=Moz+Top+10+-+Feb+%232+2.26.13)
Searching this subject will produce many different opinions but the only true way is to actually monitor the seo of the site and if the client is paying to pre check which language is producing better results by keywords.
I have been monitoring some of my sites and noticed that some will produce better google ranks depending on the country language but others prove better using the other language, English for instance because it may bring more visitors. I have seen other cms websites that have terrible ranking as well so the structure of the site is very important from the start.
The best idea is to probably begin the organizational structure of the content in the native country language if that is your main target, in other words as the article shows, the object is to choose the true target audience and not simply the local language. Money talks as they say.
