Title: Linking to the front page in different languages
Post by: pavel on January 23, 2009, 01:03:58
Good day Elxis Community.

I am building a site with 4 languages.  The initial idea was to have an intro page with a nice logo and links to the content in different languages.  No flash.

Q1:   Would such "language/intro" page seriously damage SEO of the site?

Q2: I can publish an autonomous page (with a special template) as a first item in the main menu, so it gets displayed instead of the front page by default when visitors hit my domain.com; I couldn't figure out if I can have a link or menu on that intro page to connect to the front page component displaying in a specific language.

Intro page: Link Greek -> opens front page component in Greek language; link Russian -> opens front page component in Russian language.

Is there a way?

Many thanks.

Search engines take more attention to the first website page for links and contents , keywords , description ...
So decide if you want to leave them or not  ;) Or how you can let search engines to reach them  :)
