Title: IOS eShop PayPal Function
Post by: de-active on August 04, 2011, 23:53:18
H  ;D

Quick question, with PayPal as a payment method on eshop, what is the level of integration ?

Upon checkout, is the transaction completed on IOS eShop (therefore fully integrated) or is the transaction/payment redirected to PayPal website for the transaction to be completed.

I hope the question is clear as I couldn't try it out on the demo site because the transactions are only for demo purpose.

Many thanks

You get redirected to PayPal site. Log into your account and give approval for the transaction. That's how it works and not only on Elxis.

Yes, that's right but the login to PayPal can happen from within Elxis/Eshop without it the customer having to visit the PayPal site from another link/popup/ but remain on the eshop.

I recall when PayPal started even with large brands, you were taken away from the ecommerce site and the login/payment would be completed on PP, then you would be redirected back to the ecommerce site.

Then PP allowed better integration via API to ecommerce sites, so the customer doesn't have to visit PP site but remains on the ecommerce site and completes the transaction, even though in the background, without user's knowledge or perception the api is communicating with the pp site...

As an example on ebay uk - you can login within ebay and complete the transaction, without leaving ebay, but on other sites you have to leave the ecommerce site, go to PP site, login, complete the transaction and then you are redirected back to the ecommerce site.

Thanks for your reply Rentasite...what I should ask more specifically is does EShop have PayPal Standard or PayPal Pro as the API module? Or can it allow both?

IOS Eshop has both Paypal and Paypal PRO. Both can be used. Paypal PRO works only for some countries (US, UK, Canada).

Hi Datahell !!

Great to deal with you once again, been a long time.

Thanks for the confirmation that it will work with both PP.

Is there any special settings on eShop to use it for PPP - on the demo, I can only see that you require the PP email address.

Cheers

Each payment method has some options and integrated help. Paypal PRO has API username, API password and API signature options. It is strongly recommended to have an SSL certificate in your site if you are going to use Paypal PRO.
