Title: Notification for new article
Post by: Ivan Trebješanin on March 19, 2007, 17:18:36
Hi,
I just wondered: why don't I recieve an e-mail when user submit an article? Everything else is fine, artcle is added as unpublished... but, no e-mail for me. I suppose there must be something I should do to make things right. This is my second Elxis "live site", so I need some help. Thanx.

I think that Elxis already sends you a notification email, but I am not sure about this.

I open you a window to the future:
The existing idea is to add a mechanism for automatish various kind of procedures inside Elxis. Some of them could be sending notifications, diagnose and fix system health, take backups etc.

Elxis 2007 will may have a cron job system included.
We have already implement a full working Cron Job system in EDir (Elxis Directory Component).
Cron job in Linux is a deamon for automaticaly execute scheduled procedures. Elxis Cron jobs will be an  OS-indepedent feature (pseudo-cron).

Sorry to go back to a solved case, but could you be more certain about whether or not Elxis sends notification emails when someone uploads or edits content? This is absolutely crucial in our organisation because every change made must be sent to the translator immediately, so we need to know this before installing Elxis on our system. Is this a feature which Elxis has? It looks like this will be included in Elxis 2007 -- what is the expected release date for this?

Thanks.

Hi,

As you can see, ELXIS already has that function, but ain't working as supposed. Regarding the release of ELXIS 2007, datahell has announced it's release by the end of may.

I'm anxious too  ;)

Well, I must come back to this topic too... as I convinced one marketing agency to switch from joomla to elxis, and they are reporting that they aren't receiving any mails when someone submits an item. They are now testing mass mail feature, and I don't know what's gonna happen... This could be very embarrassing for me, so if anyone has a clue... I need to bail out of this mess presto!!!

Elxis sends e-mail when anyone submits NEW content items. The e-mail is send to the users that are allowed to receive e-mails (usually super administrators).

Hi, Datahell

1. Contact form is forwarding mail OK.

2. No mail at all about new articles.

3. I've tried massmail fature last night, it's NOT working too...

PS
Have tried with PHP mail setting, sendmail and SMTP... :P

Hi,
It has just crossed my mind... could I somehow integrate simple sendmail pearl script, I used it while back in the age of plain HTML, and it was working perfectly?

Hi, again...
I've somehow found the right combination for one of the problems... massmail is working after setting the mail to go through SMTP.

Now there is only one problem, though, and that is notification about submitted article!

Here is something strange: "Thank you" message is appearing in the address bar in the browser, like this

http://www.jazzign.com/index.php?mosmsg=Thanks+for+your+submission%3B+it+will+be+reviewed+before+being+posted+to+the+site.

Now this is wierd!!!

Looks like a get method, but in the wrong place.
