There 2 versions ( the existing and the upcoming one ) are totally different. There are some thoughts about solving it in future. Elxis Nautilus will be installed on fresh domains.

Elxis Nautilus is NOT compatible to Elxis 2009.x neither to its extensions. The code is totally different.
It is our Elxis, built 100% by the Elxis Team!

Regarding multisites for different domains(not-subdomains), will elxis use different databases for each one?
If not how does it effect seo capabilities??(not talking about link exchange)
do we have to make domain mapping from cpanel?

Each multi-site has its own database.
Each multi-site has its own media files (images/video/audio).
Each multi-site has its own global configuration.
Each multi-site has its own users, user groups, access permissions, etc.
Each extension on a multi-site has its own settings.

The only thing multi-sites share is the Elxis file system (core and extensions as files).
Even if sub-sites are isolated they share the same file system with the mother site, so the administrator of the mother site should trust the administrators of the sub-sites. Multi-sites designed to provide solutions for sites that need a second, or even third site, for their own use but for a different task (eg a separated forum or a separated e-shop). Large sites and organizations have often such needs.

Multisites requires a simple rule in the htaccess file. You can do this from your hosting control panel or by editing directly Elxis htaccess file.

No, you can not transfer anything. Read what I wrote before.

I am really new to Elxis, just stumbled onto it actually and started playing with it merely a few weeks ago. I am excited about Nautilus, especially for the Multi-site and what datahell have said.
I'm a volunteer web developer for a baptist organization that needs such a structure. They have a main site (ie: swcba.org) then separate sub-sites, which manages branches of small ministries (ie: pioneers.swcba.org) and usually have their own templates and own news regarding that ministry. I can see how this system will make this management so much easier.
Most of all, thanks to Elxis team for offering it as Open Source.
It gives the organization an option to support the project when they can but not requiring them to spend huge amount of $$ which they do not have at once.

I am currently not using Elxis as the system for their website. Due to I knew about Elxis only a few weeks ago and these organizations have existed before I volunteered. But, I hope to transfer their sites to Elxis system soon.
Thank You All!!

Welcome to Elxis!  Smiley You can experiment with Elxis 2009.3 but remember what was said, previously:

If you/they can wait, you may transfer the whole content to Elxis Nautilus, when this will be available & stable.

Hi rentasite,

That's why I am waiting for Nautilus to come out before transitioning to Elxis. I did not want to re-add the content again when Nautilus comes out or wait for a transfer module/function. I have played with Aphrodite for a bit and the system is near flawless. The only (very tiny) problem I had was when adding content I was not able to change text size individually/manually using Tinymce. I have inquired this in another post, hope this is fixed in Nautilus.

Thank you for the warm welcome! Can't wait to try this out.  Smiley

As it has already mentioned: the new content plugins system is better, faster and easier to use than Elxis 2009.x  bots. You can extend content with plugins.
Here is some of the core plugins:
  • Autolinks: plugin will convert given keywords, or article's META keywords, into links pointing to the tags search page. This way visitors can easily find similar articles. The plugin will boost your site' SEO value as it improves cross-site linking.
  • Contact Form: plugin generate a simple contact form
  • Elxis Link: Add links in the editor area as anchors pointing to #elink: and followed by the Elxis URI you want to link to. All links point to index.php (no popups) and are multi-lingual (except if mentioned differently). The generic Elxis URI syntax is: language:component:page where language can be ommited for auto-language linking.
  • Google Maps: (using API ver 3) plugin allows you to display Google maps inside Elxis article. You can display any location in the world and info for each location. The map appearance is fully customizable (marker style, map size, map type can be normal, satellite and hybrid, zoom, controls, map scale etc).
  • HTML5 Video: An HTML5 video can consist of several video files of different extensions and subtitles in different languages. Poster images are also supported.
  • Image Gallery: plugin will help you to easily display an amount of uploaded images on your website using Slideshow technology.
  • Youtube Video: plugin allows you to place a Youtube Video inside article using the Video ID from Youtube

- The editor for upcoming version will be CKEditor (Editor's Demo)  instead of TinyMCE.

Elxis Performance Monitor (EPM) is a method to benchmark Elxis and check the performance of each individual block executed during the page generation process. Such blocks are the current component, the loaded modules, plugins, and other types of extensions. Elxis Performance Monitor also gives you benchmark results for the whole page as well as the system loader. Elxis Performance Monitor is useful to check your site's overall speed and spot slow blocks in your site. You can afterwards modify the slow extensions in order to decrease its execution time.
