I re-open this post after some months of inactivity because I believe that it is urgent people to get educated more. I mostly care about PHP lessons, as PHP is -in our case- the most important scripting language. Most developers seems very confused on how things work. They get stuck in php functions and loose the general picture. As I have said several times, the most important thing is not to learn the php functions, but to learn how to think and to solve problems. Computers are stupid machines, they do what you tell them. But you have to tell your orders in a special language because they don't speak German or French. So we use PHP to tell them do stuff. In order to build good software we must first organize our thoughts and keep a general picture of what we want to build in our mind. Then we will use php to tell the computer what to do.
So, I am thinking of making again free lessons for the very basic stuff about php. Someone may say "I know these, I would like something harder". The problem is that most of them are wrong. Most "developers" do not deeply understand functions, arrays, and other simple PHP's things and I see this in the code they write. PHP is moving fast (see PHP 5.3+, PHP 6.X), people staying back to an old-fashioned coding style will soon not be able to write php any more. They might have to change job...
I am thinking of making a "persistent" seminar (a kind of a "class") that will start from the php basics and move to object oriented programming, design patterns, namespaces, and other more advanced stuff. I could perform 2-4 lessons per month from now till summer 2011. The seminar's language, unfortunately for the others, will be Greek because I can not express my self good in English. Is there anybody interested?

I can only write my disappoint about the choice to use the Greek as main language

Please mate can you try to do your lesson in english ?
Thanks in advance for your availability.

We are learning a programming language , we need to know a little php language to learn more
if you know the basic of php , you will learn more , if the teacher be in Greek , Persian , or another languages
if you know HTML , CSS , or some basic of PHP (like echo , variables , ...) so you can learn from Datahell
You should learn from the php language , not from Greek language ...
I was in some of John's conferences , I don't know Greek at all , But I learned those lessons completely
I like these lessons , I like learn more and more very much

Ciao Farhad
,
I'm just a noob in programming PHP but for what I've read we are going to learn "not the php functions, but to learn how to think and to solve problems" and for me this mean starting understand the problem facing it and trying solving it using PHP language.
For me is really important to can read the language where the concept are expressed to better understand "how to solve" the problem. For me is not important the PHP function explained but how the function is applied in order to solve the problem.
Ciao
