Because i tested this upgrade tool and some users want me to help them to use this script , i created this topic... So if you want to use this tool please read the following instructions and do them with care ...
Elxis 2006.4 to 2008.0 Upgrade Instructions:Below you will find the steps to bring an Elxis 2006.4 system up to the 2008.0 version.
The Elxis 2006.4 to 2008.0 upgrade process is a bit more complicated than other system upgrades becuase there are many new features in new version 2008.
I tried that this process be more easy.
This upgrade is written by me and it is not an ELXIS Team release !
I tested this upgrade with some components, modules, bots like StarGallery , FacileForms , ... . There wasn't any problem for them after upgrade but may be you have some problems with enabling SEO Pro ...
Attention : There isn't any guaranty for your site by using this process and you can do this process with your OWN RISK !
* Before doing any part of this instruction , get a full backup from your all files and databases , so if you have any problem you can restore them to the last site ... *
Upgrading Steps:1) Backup your site (both database & site files)
2) Take your site offline: Site->Global Configuration->Site Offline (YES).
3) Run the SQL statements in the file called upgrade2006.4to2008.0.sql via your normal database interface (ie) phpmyadmin (Import tab!) , MySQL commandline, etc.
!! If you installed your old Elxis site with another database table prefix than elx_ , you should replace any elx_ with your prefix string in the .sql file ...
4) Download the full package of Elxis 2008.0 and upload all files and folders inside the package into the root of your Elxis installation , Let them overwrite the existing files.
* Remove the installation folder
* Remove current .htaccess file and rename the htaccess.txt with .htaccess
!! You should check the files and folders proper permissions like Elxis 2008 recommended settings , so make sure that the uploaded and overwrited files and folders have proper permissions ...
5) Open your configuration.php file and add the following lines before php close tag (?>):
$mosConfig_mbf_content = '0';
$mosConfig_idnum = '';
$mosConfig_hideRtf = '0';
You can set these values by going to the Administration -> Global Configuration and save the settings after upgrade too .
6) Also you should modify some modules parameters
Goto administration -> Modules -> Site Modules and set these modifications in the following modules :
Module Name Modify These Options
=========== ============================================User Menu -> Menu Style = Flat List
Who's Online -> Filter Groups = No
Banners -> Module Class Suffix = -banner , Number of Banners Shown = 1 , Number of Banners Per Row = 0 , Unique Banners = No
Other Menu -> Menu Style = Flat List , SEO PRO Itemid preload = No
Select Language -> Module Class Suffix = -lang , Indicator = No , Style = Flags , Smart Switch = Yes
7) Goto administration -> Components -> SoftDisk
Click on Update system icon on toolbar ...
8 ) Bring your site back online and set other options like SEO and offset time from Site->Global Configuration.
9) Take a look to your all site modules and correct their positions to proper template positions
10) When finish the upgrade go to the Updiag tool and check your file system to make sure that all files are Elxis 2008.0 authentic and updated.
Which changes does the upgrade do ?
========================Upgrade prepares the whole database in order to compatible with Elxis 2008.
The upgrade process will generate default seo titles for all categories , contact details , contents , menus , newsfeeds , polls and sections like category1 , content3 based on the item id...
* Also you can use the Niko's script to adding suggested SEO titles for sections , categories and contents , You can find this script from :

You can modify all of them for best optimizing and enable the SEO PRO in the Global Configuration-> SEO Tab -> Search Engine Friendly URLs-> SEO Pro ).
Also the upgrade will set your default front-end template to okto, default administration template to magnet and default administration login screen to olympus which they are completely compatible with Elxis 2008.
If you want to use your favorite templates , you should edit them and compatible with all Elxis 2008 template's structure and set to default after ...
