What will differ the Elxis 2007 from the previous versions, and when it is release?

The biggest addition will be: EDir
Release: In a few months as said in the forum before. Around June maybe?

The Edir Component it is a commercial, and as eliasan it will be available as soon as possible (in some days I think so). And I don't think so that Edir will be available as open source with the Elxis 2007.
Wait for an answer from the Elxis Team, that I wrote it is only my thoughts, and my information from the Elxis Forum.

I didn't speak about commercial or non-commercial addons. I said: The biggest addition will be EDir. Under whatever license. ;)

Yes, EDir (Elxis Directory) works fine with both Elxis 2006.4 and 2007.0.
We will also build an updated version for Elxis 2007 when the 2007 release is published (mostly to take advantage of the 2007's improved XML language system).
As we want everything to be perfect at this time we do a mass upgrade to the EDir, building the 1.1 version before even published the 1.0 version of the component!! EDir is not a simple component. It is a kind of CMS inside a CMS.
Some EDir's features are also implemented in Elxis 2007 (like the ajax powered buttons/tasks, the user's preferable language parameter etc). So, open source earned in this case from a commercial product. More information for EDir when it will be time to be announced.
As there are some bad guys arround we don't announce all the Elxis 2007's new features. Few have announced and some more will be announced. The most important is that the 2007 version will be more user friendly, easier to administer, smarter and even more powerful. As 2006.4 version does not have bugs it is not so urgent to publish the 2007 release. It will be published when it will be ready, tested enough and bug-free as always.

Returning to the initial question:
At this time a new administration template is being created. It's name is Magnet. Elxis 2007 is a modern CMS and much more user friendly. Magnet is specialy created for the 2007 release and supports it's advanced features. Old administration templates do not support some new features, so you must switch to magnet when the time comes. We can not publish the 2007 features now (look what happened in Iran as a reason why). You must wait.
When the developement procedure is finished, many paople will be astonished in front of Elxis!
Notice: There is a thought of adding ion-cube protection to the Brain class ("noisis" - new implemented) inorder to protect Elxis from stealing. We will discuss this issue in the future and how this wont violate the GNU/GPL license.

* I was starting to develop a template for the administration area, but after datahell's post i might stop and wait for Elxis 2007.

You can safely create/develope anything you wish but try to avoid things that have direct relationship with Elxis backend or Elxis internal mechanisms (like administration templates). They will work but they may miss some features. You can for example create frontend templates and login screens. Create a frontend template and if it is good it will be included in the standard 2007 release.
