Title: [solved]How to load a MAMBO site template
Post by: kdw on October 26, 2006, 18:19:42
Hi,
I#ve tested to load a Mambo template (siteground13.zip)  from http://templates.mamboserver.com

Installers >Templates-Site>Upload Package File>{siteground13.zip}>uploadFile&Install

then this error occurs:

.......elxis/tmpr/install_4540d02c558f6/index.php does not exist!

How can I make mambo templates compatibel ? Do you have a sort of a three step  instruction ?

All templates are compatible with elxis. Only elxis does not like files to be inside a folder! Unzip your template localy and re-zip it without the container folder!

Great, it works.

My I give a suggestion for improvement? Add to the templatemanager an option to load templates which are zipped  by mambo. I think this is a simple switch and an unzip option. In Germany a lot of companies use Mambo (for example Chamber of Industrie and Commerce), therefor we need that option.

The normal way to pack templates, components etc is to NOT use a container folder. Although we will see if we change this in version 2007.

I followed your above instructions and the index.php related error goes away but after I upload the new zifile I get an error that a file is missing. This time it is the file that is first in the zip archive.

Am I doing sth terribly wrong? ???

TIA

Yiannos

EDIT

I found my mistake. I was zipping everything in a flat zipfile. I zipped the contents of the original file along with the folders inside it ('css' and 'images') but without the topmost folder and it works fine.

Just writing it here so that you can laugh with me and in case anyone else does the same mistake (doubtedly :) )

Unzip the template package locally and check that there is no container folder. If there is, go inside that folder and re-zip it's contents inorder no container folder to exist. Try to install your new package template.
