Hi,
working on an autonomous page, I enter text and save the page.
Once I enter an image, I cannot save the changes. The admin page just halts, and I gave to hit back on the browser.
any thoughts?

Have you disabled the seo pro extension ?
I remember the issue about it that's why i ask you.

yes SEO pro is disabled. I use the ibrowser to enter it. It's already in images/stories/subfolder

Try to insert the image manually.
Click from TinyMCE editor the image tool and write the link : http://www.mydomain.gr/images/stories/subfolder/image_filename.jpg
Will it be displayed the same issue ?

ok will check it and let you know. Hopefully I can get iBrowser to work. It's a better way for simple users to insert pictures.

Have you communicate with your hosting provider ? It 'smells' me something like : file / folder permissions or file / folder owner.

permissions are set as per normal 755 for the folder and 644 for the files

File / folder owner ? Is that you ? School hosting providers has problems with that.

Have to speak to them. It's really getting to me. Cannot work like this. too many issues
But why does it let me install Elxis, do everything apart from enter an image?

no,
with SEO pro enabled it does not work properly. I spoke to them and they dont want to make changes for security reasons or because they are not sure if something goes wrong to the other sites on the server

Unfortunately i can't help you.
Neither You don't have any access like cPanel nor let you choose some basic functionalities at your website's settings.
Have you seen a relative subject in forum regarding school hosting provider [Greek Lang]?

samething happened to me before..
mine was because of the hosting... beacuse of attacks or scanging servers they change time to time chmod settings..
a little advice always use seopro..
set all 755 644
then tmpr cache 777-666
hope works..

So many problems with this school server. I notice though that there are some school sites hosted on it sing joomla cms.
Would joomla work properly on there and Elxis not?
Are there requirement differences between Elxis and Joomla which might allow joomla to work with there server settings and not Elxis?

Two different CMS. I believe that there are differences between them. I don't know about Joomla and i don't care at all :)

Yes I know how people feel about Joomla. I have never used it at all. Not planning to either. I only use Elxis. But it seems that joomla works on the school network.
the school network was done using joomla www.sch.gr
This is killing me really. Could be something so simple and I just don't know why its not working.

This has nothing to do with Elxis and Joomla. As i can see sch.gr is hosting to another server than yours.

I contacted heldesk, and I was told that there shouldn't be a problem hosting a CMS. And that there are other sites on that server using Joomla, Wordpress etc.
The sch.gr site is on another server, but there are CMS pages on the school server.
The only problem I have at the moment is with editing content items. I cannot even view the html code when editing an autonomous page. It halts. I cannot even save once in the editor. I'm forced to go back on the browser.
Everything else works fine. I can install uninstall modules etc.

any thoughts? Is it something I can fix in elxis?
would it be the database?

OK I think it's fixed now.
I noticed that only two autonomous pages caused that problem,
I deleted them both, deleted the menu items that were linking to them, then re-created them and the menu items and they work grate.
Don't know what was causing it. ???
