There are different ways of sharing content on Facebook. One of these are, what you already say. A sharing button. I suggest ADD THIS - http://www.addthis.com

Also, if you have a Group or Fan page on Facebook (for your site) a clever way is to send automatically RSS Feeds from your site, to that group/fan page ;)

If you want further assistance, just respond telling us what exactly you want.

edit: It would be great if Add this could be implemented into Elxis CMS 2009.2 (content & eBlog) beyond any other sharing service.

Speaking of addthis, I just noticed that my blog is not showing the share links.

After clicking on the link, it displays "Secure Connection Failed An error occurred during a connection to www.e-mailit.com."

the same for me. it seems to me, AddThis adds something unnecessary to my links and that doesn't work.

I will create a module via addthis  (http://addthis.com/)that you can customize it .
It will be 100% compatible with elxis platform.
I believe till Monday i will have finished that.!

Cool Stavro!!!  ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)

Idea: Talk to datahell, and if it's possible to implement it, in Elxis CMS 2009.2 (?)

xmanhattan is talking about another sharing service. What problem do you face with Add this ? - It's working fine and smoothly!

And it has also great statistics. Easy to use and see.

Niko, what kind of features have you adopted in your addthis module? Asking cause i have discussed this with Stavros.

Opa! Plain module?  I did a test-share for Twitter and got this OSW Demo Site: http://bit.ly/bNkZHm via @addthis

Niko, the clue is... to import it in the Elxis content and eBlog. And what it will create to be exclusively for each post/article. Not the whole site.

Spyro, I know this, just i had not time to do it. Yesterday i did the module in 3 mins because i wanted to test it somewhere and i saw that works bookmarking and sharing the url you are every time, the moment you click on it. OK a bot version for Elxis could be the best. But ... matter of time. I will do it soon.

Ι attach the paramets that already has added on the developing mode phase 1.!
As i mentioned before is that i will publish it till Monday because of a little problem of my health!.

So nikos if it is possible as i saw before and i don't want to publish two different named modules with the same basic functionality.
If you publish it then i will stop all this process and everything alright. ;)

Just inform me to know what to do.

Stavro from attached image i see that you did the full option using all buttons (5) that Add This gives. I have published already the simple version using only one button. I have not any problem to unpublish it. We can tell Ivan to arrange it.

Stavro you did a completed module with many parameters, so do not stop your work. I published Add This because i saw the conversation post about and i had it already done since yesterday.

It will be a good idea to unpublish this entry on EDC.
I believe on the theory that if we publish something this must have full customized parameters for elxis users.

Bot will be a great idea to go on .. with it.!
So i continue developing...

As i mentioned this image is on the Developing mode phase 1.
There are thoughts that it might be added more parameters.

Not necessary. There are simple modules on Elxis that they have only the minimum 2 parameteres. (Cache and Module Suffix)

I forgot to say that there are categories of module which we seperate them depending on functionality.! ;)

My opinion is that it should not be a module. It should be a bot, since it is going to share the content of a specific item.

Facebook announce an attractive option last week:
http://blog.facebook.com/blog.php?post=383515372130
It's an extension to their platform which makes easier to share things inside a website!

Like

Already on Facebook, you can show your friends that you're interested in their status updates, photos and links by clicking "Like." In fact, the average user clicks "Like" on nine pieces of content each month.

You'll begin seeing "Like," or in some cases "Recommend," buttons appearing on popular websites spanning a variety of industries, including NYTimes.com, IMDb, CNN.com, TIME.com, LIFE.com, Fandango, NHL.com, USA Networks, Levis.com, Univision and ABC.com.

For example, if I like a pair of jeans on Levis.com, my action will be shared with my friends on Facebook, where they can comment on it. I can also see which of my friends like the jeans on Levis.com

I don't understand all this fuss about the new options on Fbook.  ::)

Just a suggestion.  I think that a category Social Extensions for facebook, twitter, etc. might be a good addition to the Elxis Download area.

yeah, that would ease the search, it's worth creating a special subcategory.

Unfortunately , on these days i have focused on the development of eForum component - Modules for Elxis CMS platform and i have not enough time to finish it.
I will finish it and i will publish it as soon as i can.

Just an information: On the upcoming Elxis 2009.2 AddThis and E-mailit are integrated into Elxis content items, autonomous pages, and eBlog posts. More info on Elxis wiki (http://wiki.elxis.org/wiki/Sharing_buttons)

So , from those who have versions of Elxis 2009.1 (-) created this bot..

And one more thing to inform you about, irrelevant to this post but very interesting.

Elxis 2009.2 is also able to translate any content item into any language in frontend (in back-end this feature is already supported).
The corresponding feature appears as an icon placed inside the article's icons bar, as the AddThis/Emailit icons, and is powered by the Elxis translation API (http://wiki.elxis.org/wiki/Automatic_translation) using Google's translation service. On Elxis 2009.2 you can use a new trigger event (http://wiki.elxis.org/wiki/Trigger_events_for_content_bots) for bots, this is the onContentIcons. Translate, AddThis and E-mailit bots make use of this new event. More information about the translate bot soon on Elxis wiki.

I just read a lot of manuals on the internet to finish the addthis bot. (http://www.elxis-downloads.com/downloads/bookmarks-sharing/270.html)

I think http://wiki.elxis.org/wiki/Trigger_events_for_content_bots article and something like that will help us to improve ourselves and the code that we would like to read - write. ( I know it's small but very useful )

Personally i would like to have again the sub - domain of elxis ... : code.elxis.org

OK, here is why code.elxis.org removed.

The elxis documented source code has been created with PHPXref  (http://phpxref.sourceforge.net/)that had been modified by me in order to create some custom things I wanted for Elxis code documentation. That worked fine for Elxis 2008.x/PHP4.x. But PHPXref does not support PHP5, and elxis has turned into PHP5.x. That's why the code site stopped. If anyone can create a proper html output of the elxis source code for the 2009.x generation send it to me and I will re-create the site.

Offcourse we could use PHPDocumentor  (http://www.phpdoc.org/)instead although I think it also has some issues with PHP 5 (like the visibility keywords in variables).

Stavros I can not get into this right now as I am busy. You can do this by yourself if you like and build the documented html source code for Elxis. Afterwards we can use your output for the Elxis code site.
