Hi all,
I'm about to move the site I finished from the sub directory to the main one.
Looking at this site: http://wiki.elxis.org/wiki/Move_Elxis_from_a_sub-dir_to_the_root_dir
just wanted to ask if there is something else I should be looking out for.
Any tips.
-
no ..are all there..
just this=> if you are not familiar with ssh .. copy files manually
-
thanks. I think I'm going to do it via FTP. Either from the console, or FileZilla
-
I'm in PHPmyAdmin and want to take a full database back up and then update the urls within the database... how ?
Did all apart from:
Save the SQL file and import it in your online database (you will have to drop all existing db tables before).
Some components or modules maybe using at their configuration parameters paths to some directories... check also you DB for those paths!
Need to iport it.. how do i drop the tables... and check if module and component paths are ok?
-
OK,
I backed it up, changed the links using PSPad, and restored it.
Hope its all ok now
:(
Please help. I tried getting into the administrator pages, I get PHP errors, and then logs me out :(
-
copy here the error...
-
I don't get the chance to copy anything. I get several php errors and then it takes me back to the login screen
The site seems to be working fine
-
I did not drop the tables before importing the backup database. could this be a problem?
-
yea.. since you follow default settings in phpmyadmin when exporting....
in few words your database is still the old-one! since the old tables exists phpmyadmin did not overwritten them during the import...
1- export(use defult settings)
2-save in your pc the file
3-make a copy of this file
4- edit the copy apply new paths etc...
5- go in phpmyadmin .. select all tables..scroll down... in the drop-down... with selected=>drop-delete.. db now have 0 tables...
6- import the modified copy with phpmyadmin
-
Well just did it again. Dropped the tables. Successfully imported the DB file, and the problem is the same :(
-
if you want PM me access
i assumed that you copied all files..
and you have check again permissions for cache 777 and tmp 777 folder.. if not you can not login to admin...
-
cache and tmpr are both 777
which access do you need? FTP? Elxis Admin?
there are many sess_ files in the main dir
getting these errors on site:
Unknown: Failed to write session data (files). Please verify that the current setting of session.save_path is correct (/var/www/vhosts/xxx--removed--xxx/httpdocs)
Unknown: open(/var/www/vhosts/xxx--removed--xxx/httpdocs/sess_llhg23mp9q17sb1fuht0u6tva0, O_RDWR) failed: Permission denied (13)
-
both..
-
if I delete the sess_ files?
-
no-harm.. do it
-
did it. same thing
I PMed you
-
ok found...
#php_value session.save_path "/var/www/vhosts/xxx--i removed--xxx/httpdocs"
thats not correct... webserver have not permission to write the session there...
i edited your htaccess and comment it out
-
you should read carefully the wiki...
about session save path...
never store sessions in you public_html(httpdocs) but one level up in your user dir.. it is a security risk
create from control panel a tmp dir eg. /var/www/vhosts/userdir/tmp and make it writable by webserver
you may omit this step as it is not mandatory for elxis although highly recommended!
-
so it all works fine now.
thank you so much.
I really appreciate your help.
thank you.
PS. What do you think of the site? My first Elxis attemp.
-
you are welcome!
nice site clean design.... i like it..
fix only the top bar ...use less margin-padding on top menu links and hide overflow.
contact link slept out bellow the bar and pushes the top-rotator inside content..
edit..perhaps you don't see this.. it appears only in my 22" screens(wider pixels)
-
yeah I like it. also did this: but gave javascript conflict on gallery: www.vasilisstudios.gr
-
this is relay nice!
congratulations!
-
thanks
congrats to the Elxis team for ELXIS. It's Awesome once you learn it. I even bought the books. Love it.
Will be using it all the time. Tonight was my first attempt of moving a site from a sub-folder. :)
-
I havea 22" monitor. I don't see it. Hmmm can you send me a screenshot?
-
<script type="text/javascript" src="...........mod_rollingmenu/mootools.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="..........mod_rollingmenu/rollingmenu.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="......mambots/content/plugin_jw_sig/mootools.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="................r/mambots/content/plugin_jw_sig/slimbox.js"></script>
this is at least useless .. twice the same library
find which conflicts and .. remove .. replace with other mootools-compatible scripts ... you can found out there thousands of galleries or weather-gadgets
ubuntu firefox

thanks for the screenshot.
where are these lines located?
<script type="text/javascript" src="...........mod_rollingmenu/mootools.js"></script> etc?
EDIT> Do you have a toolbar on your browser? could that be pushing it down?
-
no way...
try this..
#header {overflow:hidden}
#top-menu {clear:both;}
also reduce a little padding of link in menu ... different os render fonts with a different way .. bigger-small etc..
<script type="text/javascript" src="...........mod_rollingmenu/mootools.js"></script> etc?
they are written inside corresponded module.php file.. now that i am thinking again.. i don't now if they are full or special-modified-by-datahell versions (with less functions) of mootools library
but you can try to remove the second one ... no big deal i think
-
tried removing the line from both in turn, no luck.
