Title: Meet the requirements?
Post by: anris on December 14, 2006, 13:36:57
Hello, all Elxis CMS people!
I recently downloaded Elxis CMS, so I can run a testing website, to see how things go with this CMS.
In the past I used Mambo & also Joomla.

I tried a lot of times to install it but when I reach in the install2.php page (40% progress) I get a blank screen. I changed to IE, but the same problem continued! I read some topics in this forum, and I found out tha Elxis make use of tha latest MySQL version. I contact with my webhosting service and they told me that my domain runs MySQL 3.23.58-2.3 version. I was really sorry to hear that!

Is there something like a hack to Elxis system so I can install it despite my old MySQL version or I must update it for sure, so I can meet the requirements?

Thank you, a lot for your help!
Cheers!

Even if you hack elxis and install it on a mysql 3.x you will surely have problems later. Elxis uses utf-8 encoding which mysql prior to version 4.1 does not support. It is not nessessary to have the latest mysql version (5.2), 4.1 or greater is fine. You can also install elxis on a postgre database if it is available on your server. The MySQL 3.23 you have is too old and in-secure.
