Title: Translation guidelines – IMPORTANT
Post by: Ivan Trebješanin on June 22, 2008, 19:53:28
In order to create valid Elxis translation, you must use some text editor capable of editing and saving utf-8 encoded files without BOM headers. We recomend using PSPad editor.

EXAMPLE:
In PSPad editor, set your format to utf-8 and go to Settings->Program Settings...->Program - behaviour ->UNCHECK Ident.bytes in UTF-8 coding.
To set format, go to Format and select UTF-8.

Thank you

This depends on your server setting also. If your server doesn't support your locale, then you should ask your provider to install it. Alternatively, if you have shell access to your server, just install locale for arabic.

I am trying to create a Brazilian Portuguese translation, but I wanted to keep the European Portuguese option intact. How must I name the language folder and files? I tried renaming them pt-br, but the new language does not show up for me to choose it in the general configurations.

In Elxis languages database there are Portuguese as pt and Portuguese (Brazil) as pb

Code: [Select]

'pt' => array('LANGUAGE' => 'pt', 'REGION' => 'PT', 'DIR' => 'ltr', 'NAME' => 'Português', 'NAME_ENG' => 'Portuguese'),
'pb' => array('LANGUAGE' => 'pt', 'REGION' => 'BR', 'DIR' => 'ltr', 'NAME' => 'Português BR', 'NAME_ENG' => 'Portuguese (Brazil)'),

So for Portuguese (Brazil) you have to create a folder with name pb and there you will create all required files without to touch or change the existed folder pt of Portuguese
