Title: installation xampp & elxis
Post by: c8620p on September 23, 2007, 00:56:39
I need your help.
I 've setup a local network with an imac and a laptop via a wirless modem router.
On this modem router I 've installed an external HD in a Lanbox.
Everything is working perfect.
My Question:
I want to install Elxis & xampp in this external landisk so I could manage my site files through both of the pc's.
Do I need to install linux or windows in the landisk or not?
Thank you for your help.

I believe that XAMPP (XAMP Portable) should do the trick... but I'm not shure how would it get along with mac. Anyway, since there is no installation required, you can just copy XAMPP folder to landisk, and try it.

hi c8620p ,
you can start your local network , and after it , you can install ELXIS through XAMPP , so when you start XAMPP you can access to ELXIS from your local computers via it's ip and the path of ELXIS ... for example if your computer that ELXIS and XAMPP are installed on it and it's IP is 190.100.100.2 , and your ELXIS is installed on /htdocs/ELXIS/ path , so you can access it through this URL : http://190.100.100.2/ELXIS
note : i checked this by windows

Thank you both Ivan & Farhad.
I'll give it a try as soon as possible and let you know what the results are.

If I've got it right...you want to start XAMPP without an OS installed...
Of course it is possible to play with XAMPP within your LAN, but it is not possible to start Apache, MySQL or PHP without OS installed.
As of my knowlwdge.

Yes, it seems logical... I would put XAMPP on one of the two computers, and connect them via LAN... That's exactly what I do at home. There's no need for anything more.
