Elxis 2008 allows you to switch language and stay in the same page. This can be done under some conditions which are:
- Have the "Smart switch" option enabled in the language module.
- Have mosConfig_sef = 0 (non-SEF URLs) or 2 (Elxis SEO pro). It does not work with old standard SEF.
- The current Itemid (selected menu item) is available for all languages or for the language you wish to switch to.
If the above conditions do not fullfiled then you get redirected to the homepage as usual, as the page you currently see is not available for the new language.
-
That is great John! you Elxis Dev. team keep surprising me.
Elxis FAN.
-
Will you develop the language module so that only the flags may appear in the website?
-
You can do that even now. The trigger for language is the variable $myLang, so you just put some flags on your site and make flags post the value for each flag. Eg: English flag --> index.php?mylang=english ... get it? ;)
-
With Elxis 2006.x generation you can not change language and stay in the same page unless you modify module language or you have ALL items available for ALL languages. If for example you read an article that is for english language and you switch language to french then this article wont be available for french and Elxis will display you an error message (You are not authorized to....). Please wait for the 2008.0 version inorder to use this feature.
